Večino človekovih zadev ureja sreča.
PLOS želi posodobiti svojo politiko do raziskovalnih rezultatov, na katerih temeljijo objave v njihovih revijah. Že doslej so vzpodbujali avtorje, da bralcem v konceptu Odprtih podatkov omogočijo dostop do čim večjega dela originalnih raziskovalnih podatkov na katerih temelji vsakokratna objava. Zdaj želijo to usmeritev še utrditi in vabijo uporabnike PLOSa k razpravi na to temo, kar naj bi vodilo do izboljšanih navodil za avtorje.
Ameriška vlada vse bolj konkretno sankcionira svojo zavezo, da bo skušala kar se da veliko objav, ki imajo izvor v raziskavah financiranih iz javnega denarja, obvezati k objavam v odprtem dostopu. V nedavno objavljenem proračunu naj bi po tej poti vsaj polovica raziskovalnih sredstev končala v raziskovalnih rezultatih, ki bodo morali biti odprtodostopni znotraj leta dni po objavi.
