Oblak in zaposlovanje

More Fall-Out from Gold Open Access?
Decision-making on where to publish will take account not only of impact factors but also of the new metric of APCs. Provided that universities can gain access to this information, publishers will increasingly be challenged on the combined metric, and not on subscription price.
It is in this context that the recent acquisition of Atira by Elsevier is of such interest. As we all know, Elsevier is one of the major scholarly publishers, which also has Scopus in its stable. It thus has a major interest in two ends of the scholarly publication chain: the citation data on which to judge a journal as a target for publication (Scopus) and the journals publishing the research outputs. The middle link of the chain is the research management system, of which Atira is one of the leading providers.
The acquisition can therefore be seen as a clever, perhaps aggressive, move by Elsevier to offset potential fall in revenue from subscription journals by controlling more of the publication chain and the information it contains, thus influencing decision-making.

Hrvatska deklaracija o odprtem dostopu

Zanima me, ali je v slovenskem knjižničarskem občestvu že kdo preskusil sistem in kako ga ocenjuje.

Data Citation Index

Projekt Oxford-Google Digitization, v katerem sta Univerza Oxford in Google leta 2004 pričela z digitalizacijo fonda Bodleian Libraries je dosegel zaključni korak. Zdaj je digitaliziran material dodan v online katalog SOLO in dostopen v prostem dotopu.

Apress open

Založnik tehnične, zlasti IT literature Apress načrtuje izdajo posebne serije svojih publikacij v odprtodostopni obliki s svojim programom ApressOpen.

Proverbiarium 283

Novembra dobimo Europ PubMed Central

Iskanje slikovnega gradiva v Europeani

Proverbiarium 282

Veritas odium parit.
Resnica rojeva sovraštvo.

Veritatem dies aperit.
Čas odkriva resnico.

Veritatis oratio simplex est.
Govorica resnice je enostavna.

Ameriška zakonodaja

Ameriška Kongresna knjižnica je pripravila javno, torej prostodostopno spletno stran Congress.gov, kjer bodo objavljali celotno zakonodajno informatiko Kongresa, Predstavniškega doma in vlade.

Proverbiarium 281

Proverbiarium 280

Habemus confitentem reum.
Imamo krivca, ki priznava.

Habent sua commoda morae.
Tudi odlaganje je koristno.

Habent sua fata libelli.
Knjige imajo svojo usodo.

Takrat vam bodo še kako koristne raziskovalne vsebine v odprtem dostopu!”

J. Eisen na svojem blogu The Tree of Life.

TEDxLjubljanaEd

O Wikipediji v First Monday

V septembrski številki odprtodostopne revije First Monday (s poslanstvom obveščanja o internetu),  so kar trije članki posvečeni Wikipediji.

Podatki o spletu

Če vas zaminajo statistični in vsebinski podatki o globalni razsežnosti in vplivu spleta, najdete precej podatkov na strani Web Index.  Žal v preglednicah zaman iščemo podatke za Slovenijo.

Proverbiarium 278

Ubi amici, ibi opes.
Kjer so prijatelji, tam je bogastvo.

Ubicumque dulce est, ibi et acidum invenies.
Kjer je sladkost, najdeš tudi kislost.

Ubi maxima vitia dominantur, maximae virtutes erumpunt.

Corpus Inscriptionum Latinarum

Proverbiarium 277

Vasa vana plurimum sonant.
Prazne posode najbolj zvenijo.

Venienti occurite morbo.
Uprite se bolezni, ki prihaja.

Verae amicitiae sempiternae sunt.
Prava prijateljstva so večna.

Čeprav so mnogi nevredni svetlobe, dan vendarle prihaja.

Quam pauci possunt dignoscere verum.

Razpis 7. OP: razvoj nacionalnih politik odprtega dostopa in izobraževanje deležnikov
The FP7 Work Programme “Science in Society” for the year 2013 call has been published. It contains two new calls for proposals in the field of open access:
SiS.2013.1.3.3-1: Upstream support to the definition, development and implementation of open access strategies and policies and to their coordination
This topic supports actions with a clear European added value that are aimed at developing, improving or consolidating co-ordination activities and policies at upstream level. The proposed actions should define or reinforce national strategies, promote their convergence in the European Research Area and facilitate their implementation at national level, in the remit of the policy developments on open access to and preservation of scientific information and Horizon 2020. Target groups are any bodies with sufficient authority and decision-making power in EU Member States and Associated Countries that address and/or co-ordinate policies and activities relating to open access.
SiS.2013.1.3.3-2: Downstream training on Open Access
This topic supports actions with a clear European added value that are aimed at developing, improving or consolidating training activities at downstream level and reach the highest number of stakeholders in the European Research Area. Actions proposed must be aimed at training stakeholders with a view to permitting them and/or their organisations to fully comprehend policy and practical aspects of open access to scientific information.
More information can be found in the Participant Portal under the reference SiS-2013-1 (pages 25-26): https://ec.europa.eu/research/participants/portal/page/capacities?callIdentifier=FP7-SCIENCE-IN-SOCIETY-2013-1
